M. Ilhan Uzel, D.M.D., D.Sc, C.A.G.S..
Dr. Ilhan Uzel attended Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine where he earned a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD), a Certificate in Advanced Graduate Studies in Periodontology and Doctor of Science (D.Sc) in Oral Biology. He successfully completed the American Board of Periodontology exams and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology in 2006. Dr. Uzel has proudly held faculty positions at Boston University School of Dental Medicine and at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine where he was involved in clinical and basic science research on periodontal disease, connective tissue, implantology and bone biology. He coauthored many scientific articles and book chapters on the findings of his research. From his scientific background, Dr. Uzel takes an evidence-based approach to treatment in order to recommend the most suitable treatments.
Outside of the office, Dr. Uzel enjoys traveling, exploring the culinary arts, and discussing European cinema. He speaks fluent Turkish, French, English and currently studying Spanish. In addition, he loves playing and watching soccer, rugby and basketball. On game days you can find him cheering for the Boston Celtics and Galatasaray S.K. He is the proud father of his son, Doruk. He currently lives in Plainsboro, NJ with his wife Esra.
